Mary Kay

Break the Cycle partnered with Mary Kay Inc. to encourage legislators throughout the United States to propose laws requiring healthy-relationship education in schools. Together, we are:

  • Educating state legislators on the issue of dating violence
  • Arming them with resources to create effective legislation
  • Providing them with the necessary support for their bills to succeed
  • Empowering them to become active partners in preventing relationship abuse

[Ending Violence]

By sponsoring [Ending Violence], a one-of-a-kind educational tool, Mary Kay helps young people across the nation learn how to build healthy relationships and avoid abuse. As an Independent Beauty Consultant, you can join this important effort. Learn how you can bring [Ending Violence] to your community.

Lobby Days

In February 2009, Break the Cycle and Mary Kay Inc. hosted the first lobby day to support dating violence prevention education. More than 70 domestic violence advocates, Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants and supporters of prevention education convened in the Oklahoma State Capitol.

We met with members of the Oklahoma State House and Senate to gather support for a bill requiring schools to include dating violence prevention education in their curricula. The day culminated with a House Resolution in support of prevention education and recognition during the House session of the volunteer lobbyists in attendance.
