Latino Outreach

Everyday Latino teens experience dating abuse at the same rates as other ethnic groups. Unfortunately, linguistic and cultural barriers may mean less access to help and resources.

In collaboration with Latino-specific and other youth-serving organizations, Break the Cycle created a public awareness campaign to increase the number of Latino youth getting professional help around dating violence. We produced a fotonovela as an outreach tool, expanded our online resources and created a means for teens to ask us questions in Spanish.

Fotonovela

Break the Cycle’s fotonovela, He Loves Me… He Loves Me Not, tells the story of a girl who experiences dating abuse and finds help through Break the Cycle’s online resources. An arresting, effective and customizable outreach tool, this graphic novel is available in English and Spanish.

Note: He Loves Me… He Loves Me Not is under revision and will soon reflect Break the Cycle’s partnership with the National Dating Abuse Helpline.

Spanish-language Content Online

To ensure the Latino community has full access to our resources, we translate all of our materials into Spanish. From our handouts to our LGBTQ campaign materials, Spanish-speaking youth can learn the facts about dating abuse and find out ways to protect themselves, including their legal options.

Break the Cycle has several staff members able to provide information, technical assistance or speak with the media in Spanish.
