Louder than Words – A Director’s Perspective

Dear Friends,

When I joined the Break the Cycle family in 2009, Break the Cycle not only gained a Director of Youth Programs but a successful concert pianist and producer – skills one does not often see in a non-profit manager. Break the Cycle encourages each of us to make our own “voice” heard, whether it be as a lawyer, an advocate, a policy maker, an educator or an artist.

On Saturday, September 11, 2010, I have the privilege of doing just that, as the musical director for Louder than Words, Break the Cycle’s inaugural celebrity musical revue. Benefiting our life-saving public campaigns and initiatives such as our LGBTQ campaign “Hear My Voice” and our growing partnership with Girl Scouts Councils across the South West, Louder than Words sends a message to young people everywhere that they are not alone – Break the Cycle is here to help.

To help send that message, I am joined onstage by some of the most gifted young vocalists performing on Broadway today. Here are just a few examples from the stellar line up – Matt Doyle from “Spring Awakening” and “bare,” Tituss Burgess from Broadway’s “Little Mermaid” and songwriter Katie Thompson, whose music was featured in a stirring performance on this week’s So You Think You Can Dance. These are just three of the stars that will be appearing on Louder than Words – a cast that represents the best artists of tomorrow and voices you will want to hear more of today.

I invite you to join us in this celebration of love, relationships and everything in between. Learn more at breakthecycle.org/louderthanwords.
