Volunteer opportunities

Break the Cycle’s volunteers participate in a variety of projects, depending on their interests, skills, and the needs of the organization. Listed below are some of our more popular volunteer opportunities:

Education and outreach

Educate members of the community about domestic violence and the services that Break the Cycle provides. Teach Break the Cycle’s preventive education programs for youth and staff information tables at community events. These opportunities are available to both attorney and non-attorney volunteers, however, only volunteer attorneys may teach presentations that include legal information. Please contact our volunteer coordinator for information on the next education and outreach volunteer training.

“Grunt Work Night”

Join Break the Cycle’s staff and volunteers for a fun afternoon and evening on the second Tuesday of each month. Together we complete large group projects such as mailings and phonebanking.

Special events

From volunteer gatherings to our annual fundraising gala, the Summer Soirée, Break the Cycle has a host of special events that volunteers can help plan, design and carry out. Learn more about Break the Cycle’s special events.

Administrative and clerical assistance

Help keep Break the Cycle running by writing letters, keeping up files, assembling manuals, making copies, and doing other important tasks around the office.

Program-related research

Assist Break the Cycle in developing and enhancing its services by researching issues relevant to the organization and its programs. Attorneys and law students are eligible to assist us with legal questions, while non-attorney volunteers can help gather non-legal information related to domestic violence.

Internships and other special programs for students

Break the Cycle offers a variety of internship opportunities for law school, college and high school students. Click here to learn more about these special opportunities.
