Volunteer Opportunities

Break the Cycle's volunteers participate in a variety of projects, depending on their interests, skills, and the needs of the organization. To partcipate, fill out the volunteer contact form online or on paper.

Listed below are some of our more popular volunteer opportunities:

General Opportunities

General Program-Related Research

Compile information on domestic violence - statistics, articles, etc. - and expand your own knowledge of the issue.

Administrative Assistance

Help keep Break the Cycle running by writing letters, keeping up files, assembling manuals, making copies, etc.

"Grunt Work Night"

Join Break the Cycle's staff and volunteers for a fun afternoon and evening on the second Tuesday of each month. Together we complete large group projects and administrative tasks, such as data entry and filing.

Outreach

Solicit schools and organizations to host presentations of our curriculum. Strengthen our relationships with other organizations that provide services for our clients.

Education

Educate teens about domestic violence. Teach Break the Cycle's education program Dating and Domestic Violence 101: How You Can Identify Abuse and staff information tables at community events.

Special Events

From volunteer gatherings to our food and wine event, Savor the Season, Break the Cycle has a host of special events that volunteers can help plan, design and carry out.

Computer-Related Assistance

Break the Cycle has a number of projects for computer troubleshooters, network administrators and web and graphic designers.

Internships

Undergradute Intern Program

Undergraduate interns work primarily on administrative tasks to support our development efforts and program services. Interns play a vital role in the planning of fundraising events, and assist with our programs by conducting research and outreach in the community. Student Liasion Program

Undergraduate Student Liaisons act as representatives of Break the Cycle by looking for outreach and education opportunities on campus, and creating alliances between campus organizations that have an interest in domestic violence issues.

Legal Intern/Extern Program

Break the Cycle works with individual law students to design internships and externships which serve the mutual needs and interests of the students and the organization. Internships may involve legal research, court accompaniment, paperwork preparation, education and outreach, and other related activities. For more information, click over to our position listing.
