OVW TA Project

Break the Cycle is proud to be a Technical Assistance Provider for the US Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) on the issue of teen dating violence. We have been providing training and technical assistance to OVW grantees since 2007. Stopping teen dating violence is a priority for OVW. In fact, recipients of their grants provide vital services to teen victims of dating violence across the country. OVW grantees encompass a wide range of professional arenas including:

  • Courts
  • Law enforcement
  • Prosecution
  • Victims’ services
  • Schools

Break the Cycle helps ensure that OVW grantees have the information, training and resources necessary to help young victims of domestic and dating violence. Our program is responsive to teens’ needs, reflecting the flexibility required to provide them effective services. Break the Cycle provides technical assistance to Youth Services, STEP and Rural grantees to enhance their ability to effectively work with young people on this issue. Through the Teen Dating Violence Technical Assistance Center, we offer:

  • In-person and web-based trainings designed to improve the skills of Youth Services, STEP and Rural grantees
  • An online safety planning tool to help teens experiencing dating violence plan for their safety, including avoiding abuse and stalking via technology
  • Sample organizational policies that address the unique challenges of serving youth
  • Resources for Rural grantees on effectively working with schools
  • Individual technical assistance to service providers and organizations
