For the Media

Who

Break the Cycle is the leading, national nonprofit organization working exclusively on teen dating violence.

Where

Break the Cycle works with youth and communities nationwide to prevent and end dating violence.

What

Break the Cycle provides innovative prevention education and help services that schools and communities nationwide use to address dating violence.

Break the Cycle advocates for changes in laws and systems to better protect the rights and promote the health of teens nationwide.

Why

Break the Cycle believes everyone has the right to safe and healthy relationships.

Abuse doesn’t wait. It starts when dating starts.

One in three teens experiences some type of dating abuse in the US. That’s more than 1.5 million young people.

Teen dating violence can be just as destructive as adult domestic violence, if not more so. It can lead to suicide, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, additional violent behavior, eating disorders and school drop-out.

Two thirds of victims never report the abuse to anyone – Dating violence is a silent epidemic.

How

Break the Cycle reaches teens where they are: online, in school and throughout their communities.
