Peer Leadership Program
Break the Cycle is excited about our partnership with a group of 25 motivated and
creative students at the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES). Already
committed to being trained peer counselors at LACES, the students will apply their
skills and insight to creating a project to spread awareness about domestic violence
among teens in greater Los Angeles. Look out for updates and pictures from the
students as this project develops, and learn more about LACES at
www.lacesmagnet.com.
Public Education Campaign
Break the Cycle is launching a pubic education campaign in Los Angeles, CA and Washington,
DC to prevent dating violence among Latino teens and young adults. In collaboration with
local community organizations like El Nido Family Centers and
La Clinica del Pueblo,
Break the Cycle will promote resources and services available to young Latino victims
of domestic violence and raise awareness among Latino youth to take action to prevent
the onset of abusive relationships. The campaign will develop materials and radio public
service announcements in Spanish and English to reach the diverse Latino community.
Legal Intervention
Break the Cycle has successfully intervened in a lawsuit to protect domestic violence
victims' access to law enforcement, regardless of their immigration status. The ACLU of
Southern California will represent Break the Cycle and two workers rights groups in
this case. Click here for more information.
