Teen Dating Violence Experts

Break the Cycle is proud to announce the receipt of a two-year federal grant to
launch a formal Technical Assistance program for grantees of the Office of Violence
Against Women
. The new technical assistance program will provide a broad range of
services designed to improve the national response to teens and young adults who
are experiencing dating violence.

As the lead agency, Break the Cycle will host webinars and conferences, launch an
expanded online resource hub for service providers, and develop topic-specific
briefs detailing pertinent laws and policy relating to serving teen victims of
domestic and dating violence.

The technical assistance program will be implemented with the help of partnering
agencies nationwide including:

The funding is the first of its kind for young victims of dating violence and
marks a public affirmation of Break the Cycle’s unique expertise in understanding
and serving teen victims.

Volunteer Spotlight – Viviane Feilhaber
Viviane Feilhaber believes “Break the Cycle’s work is important because it
gives teens the power to use the law to protect themselves.”

Since she joined Break the Cycle as a Communications & Development Intern
this summer, Viviane has worked tirelessly on Savor the Season,
soliciting auction and gift-bag donations,
creating the multimedia presentation, facilitating meetings with the honorary committee,
compiling a “shopping list” of ingredients and helping to organize
the event overall.

When she is taking a break from Savor the Season-related
duties, Viviane keeps busy drafting grants, writing website stories and
updating Break the Cycle’s press kit materials. She has made herself so
invaluable that we are extending her internship!

A senior at UCLA, Viviane will graduate this spring with a bachelor degree
in business economics. She hopes to put her training, experience and pleasant
demeanor to work in the nonprofit sector after graduation. We are so grateful
to have Viviane at Break the Cycle and we look forward to her continuing
support of our mission.
