Located in the organization’s Los Angeles headquarters, the Youth Programs Coordinator plays a vital role in the development, implementation and distribution of the agency’s education materials and programs at the local, state and national level, and serves as a direct liaison between Break the Cycle and our school and youth organization partners. Reports directly to the Director of Youth Programs, will work closely with BTC’s Digital Strategies Coordinator, and will supervise volunteers and interns.
Essential Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Youth Programs Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the development, design and evaluation of Break the Cycle’s educational tools, resources and campaigns aimed at youth.
- Create online content and resources for thesafespace.org – Break the Cycle’s youth website.
- Coordinate BTC’s in-person youth education programs in Los Angeles County. Includes the recruitment, training and supervision of a roster of college-age facilitators who assist with education and activism programming for youth ages 12 – 24.
Serve as speaker and trainer for communities nationwide seeking to implement BTC’s youth education programs and resources.
- Cultivate relationships with local and state partner agencies nationwide.
- Develop and implement specialized workshops and programs for partner agencies and institutions.
- Be informed of current trends and research on domestic violence and youth-related issues as they pertain to education and prevention.
- Assist the Director of Youth Programs in developing budgets as they relate to new projects and programs.
- Manage all program data tracking using customized SalesForce platform.
- Participate in meetings with funders or program partners to present information regarding BTC’s youth education programs whenever necessary.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly working with diverse groups of students, educators and advocates.
- Knowledge of basic philosophies of youth development and service-learning.
- Understanding of issues related to domestic and dating violence.
- Experience working with youth age 12 – 18 is strongly preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
- Able to demonstrate resourcefulness, positive attitude, creativity and strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Possession of valid drivers license, insurance and reliable transportation.
