Speak.Act.Change Girl Power Project

Break the Cycle is proud to premiere the Speak.Act.Change Girl Power Project in seven Girl Scout Councils across Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois and Texas. 120 select Girl Scouts Ambassadors will be trained as Peer Leaders to educate nearly 10,000 more middle and high-school aged Girl Scouts. “Paying it forward,” those Girl Scouts will complete advocacy and service-learning activities designed to raise awareness among their peers. By the end of the 2010-2011 school year, Break the Cycle will have helped these new leaders reach over 50,000 more young people, educating them about dating violence, preventing abuse, and speaking out for positive change in their communities.

Break the Cycle is happy to partner with Alison Trachtman Hill, founder of Critical Issues for Girls (CI4G), in these efforts. Previously, Alison managed the anti-violence initiative at the Girl Scouts’ national headquarters. Her organization CI4G addresses the complex and ever-changing realities of girls’ lives in our global society. She is committed to addressing the healthy development and safety of girls and young women. We welcome her to our team.
