Public Awareness Campaigns

Research shows nearly two thirds of youth who experience dating violence never report it. Whether their silence stems from a lack of understanding about what abuse is or a scarcity of resources – the need is clear.

Through public awareness campaigns, Break the Cycle brings dating violence out of the shadows and connects young victims to the resources they need. We target especially underserved communities where dating violence has become a silent epidemic. Our 15 year history includes the creation of an award-winning PSA and campaigns with celebrities such as Missy Elliot and Amanda Bynes.

Break the Cycle has created powerful and poignant educational campaigns that empower youth to find their voice and unmask the truth about dating violence. We are especially proud of these recent initiatives:

  • Let Your Heart Rule Campaign, which reached more than one million high school students during 2011's Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
  • Hear My Voice Campaign, the first national dating violence prevention campaign for the LGBTQ community
