NewsroomYouth Spotlight - The BellesBelles Service Organization at Loyola Marymount University is setting an example among Break the Cycle supporters. This proud organization has completed nearly fifty years of service at LMU for various local community organizations and causes. Fifty women strong, they now dedicate their time, fundraising skills and passion to Break the Cycle and our life-saving work with young people. Sharing in a commitment to end domestic and dating violence, the LMU Belles have made significant contributions to Break the Cycle, helping with everything from fundraising to stuffing envelopes to raising awareness about the silent epidemic of dating violence. This past January, the LMU Belles and fellow service organization Crimson Circle successfully hosted their annual Charity Ball. With all proceeds benefiting Break the Cycle, the ball was a huge success as a fundraiser and raised awareness about domestic violence. More recently, the Belles were a strong presence at City of LA’s Run/Walk for Victims’ Rights, Sunday, April 6. With matching t-shirts and outgoing, positive attitudes, they proudly represented a growing movement against domestic violence. We are proud to have such strong supporters in the Belles. Thank you! ![]() Teens Make DocumentaryBreak the Cycle has partnered with a local high school in Washington, DC to participate in its annual Community Action Project. Sophomores at César Chávez Public Charter School for Public Policy are currently working on a documentary to educate other teens about the dangers of domestic and dating violence. Look for it on our website in late-May. Break the Cycle encourages teens to take action in their communities as part of the movement to end domestic violence. Starting in June, freshman students from the same school will participate in a two-week Social Change program focusing on our Safe Schools project. The teens will evaluate and give feedback on Break the Cycle’s initiative to create comprehensive teen dating violence policies for the DC’s public high schools. Break the Cycle appreciates all of those who devote their time to educate others about the horrors of abuse. Further opportunities and ideas for youth to help stop the cycle of violence can be found on thesafespace.org. |
