Speaking Out About Dating Violence

At 17, Kristen got a new boyfriend. Things were great, until he started getting violent at the end of 12th grade. After newly two years of cycling through his abusive behavior, Kristen decided to end their relationship. Little did she know, the worst was still to come.

Her long-term boyfriend shot at her and a friend, hitting one of them in the arm. He then held the gun to Kristen’s temple before killing himself. Rocked by the violence and her own feelings of guilt, Kristen took a long time to heal.

Today Kristen is using her experience to help others. She’s joined Break the Cycle and together we will raise awareness about dating violence and help prevent such tragedies from ever taking place.
