On behalf of the Break the Cycle Board of Directors, I am delighted to announce that the new Chief Executive Officer of Break the Cycle is Amy Sánchez. Amy is widely respected in the domestic violence field, and has a history of building organizations that engage communities to end violence.
Amy lives in River Falls, WI with her two teenagers, and she has worked in the domestic violence movement for over 25 years. Focused on bringing forward the voices of diverse communities, she leads from a position of seeing the inherent strength in survivors as well as a true belief in the power of communities to effect change. Amy believes that young people are not only our future, but our today, and that her job is to tap into the voices and insights of young people regarding what violence looks like to them.
Throughout her career, Amy has held leadership positions in various national organizations as a board member, steering committee member and CEO of a national Latin@ domestic violence organization. She has a stellar reputation as a leader who is highly skilled, collaborative, open, passionate and curious.
Our CEO Transition Team unanimously recommended Amy to the Board to be our next CEO, and the Board unanimously approved the recommendation. We believe she will be an excellent leader for Break the Cycle. She is smart, brave and unpretentious, and we believe she has the skills the organization needs for Break the Cycle to be a leader in the field.
Amy has already hit the ground running in the last few days. Her first priority is to start familiarizing herself with staff in the Break the Cycle LA and DC offices as well as reaching out to critical partners and funders. With teenDVmonth approaching quickly, Amy will play a critical role working with the Break the Cycle staff and the loveisrespect National Youth Advisory Board to bring awareness to the resources available to help teens stay safe in relationships!
Break the Cycle is delighted to have reached such a successful outcome to the search. My thanks to Michelle Armoni, Jennifer Kuhn, Vince Rotonda, Kyle Schneberg and Brian Singer for your hard work and tenacity as a Board! I am lucky to work with each of you.
And now, I ask you to please join me in extending a warm welcome to Amy Sanchez, our new CEO.
President, Break the Cycle Board of Directors
